REALLY SORRY PEOPLE!

I am really sorry readers I have had exams and I just could not update the blog on a regular basis. In fact I could not update the blog at all. So I am sorry to those readers who were actually interested. I will continue this blog but less frequently. Before I was doing it very regularly. My last post was back when Arsenal lost to Blackburn at Ewood Park. Alot has happened since then and it would be ridiculous to try and cover EVERYTHING that has passed to do with Arsenal. Major news as you may all know is that Marouane Chamakh completed his free transfer to Arsenal from Champions League rivals Bordeaux. He is reportedly on a 50,000 pounds a week contract.

Another HUGE saga taking place is the Fabregas saga. Now everyone knows that Barcelona want to be the best team. And now the way they want to get Fabregas has been mainly through the media. They have not formally approached Arsenal yet. Arsenal are very very keen to hold onto Fabregas. Fabregas himself wanted to leave and as he is always surrounded by the Catalonian players at the Spanish National team's training camp, his decision to leave gets stronger by the day. This was until he sat down and talked to Wenger about it. He said it was 'the best conversation I have ever had with someone about my life'. Now only those two know what actually happened between them. But whatever did happen Wenger's words of wisdom have convinced Fabregas to stay put at Arsenal for the time being. He also said that Wenger will be taking care of the transfer deals between Arsenal and Barcelona.

Please keep in touch for more news and I will hopefully continue to run this blog. Thank you for your support people,

Wenger critical of 'unfair' Rovers

After the dismal display at Ewood Park Arsenal succumbed to their 9th Premier League defeat this season. With only a point needed to confirm their third spot, Arsenal seem to be struggling over the line. I personally disliked every minute. Arsenal dominated early periods. But we've heard that many times before this season. Playing pass the ball 900 times just wont work. Someone has to score the goals. Hopefully Chamakh will provide that spark. And Hopefully a better keeper will take over. Fabianski just cannot do it. Wenger however refuses to blame him. For the full match report click and more on Wenger's post-match interview click on the links below:

Blackburn Rovers 2 - 1 Arsenal

A terrible game for the gunners. 4 defeats from 5 games. Fabianski was appalling. I am not going to comment too much against my favourite team. However these performances simply cannot carry on. Wenger asks for trust. We give it to him. He must deliver with better performances than that. To view the highlights, click play on the following videos:

NOTE: Arsenal's goal is in the post prior to this one. Check the previous post.

Blackburn Rovers 0 - 1 Arsenal

And Arsenal have scored first at Ewood Park! All that possession and pressue on the Blackburn goal has paid off. Nasri delivers the corner and Sagna flicks it onto the far post where it is met by stand-in captain Robin van Persie.

Wenger: Put your trust in me

As it says in the title, Wenger says: 'Put your trust in me'. A very brave line it seems. Wenger still has a big portion of the 37 million pounds obtained from last years sale of Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure. And lets be honest its no surprise numerous players have been linked with a move to the Gunners. Wenger has reiterated in this article that he should be trusted with his buys. And why not? He is arguably one of the most efficient buyers in the market. Whether it be economically or tactically beneficial, Wenger has almost always bought the perfect player. In this article he uses the example of Thomas Vermaelen. I'll be honest with you. I did not have a clue who it was. I was shocked to see a rubbish signing. But he has proven everybody wrong. He has not only established himself in the Premier League as a good goalscoring defender, but he has also earned a place in the team of the year! A great achievement in his debut season. Nasri aims for Pires benchmark

Samir Nasri hopes he can follow the footsteps of former compatriot Robert Pires. With Fabregas injured Nasri has taken the central role and he has been given more freedom in the midfield. He has played well on the flanks and through the middle. However Mr Wenger believes that he should be playing on the flanks and using his 'tricks' to create a good link-up play between the midfield and attack. That strategy really worked against Port when Arsenal smashed 5, including the touch of brilliance that Nasri showed in his solo effort. Nasri, 22, still believe that comparing him to the likes of Robert Pires, an Arsenal legend, is a little bit far fetched. For more on the story click on the following link:

Wenger 'interested' in Joe Cole

Well with Arsenal in a must-buy situation and with Wenger stating that hew may have to add to his squad, it is no wonder that people have linked many players with Arsenal. News has just come out stating that Joe Cole, whos contract expires in the summer, may be on his way to Arsenal! Now he is a good player and personally I wouldn't mind bringing in two free signings. But keep in mind he has been linked with a numerous amount of other clubs including Manchester United. This time lets hope Wenger commits and doesn't let teams like Manchester United take Cole away like they took Chris Smalling away (if you do not know the story behind Chris Smalling moving to Manchester United then forget the previous sentence). Samir Nasri's goals from 2008 - 2009 Season

A special treat for you guys. I made a video on Samir Nasri's goals in the 2008-2009 season, his debut season with Arsenal. As soon as he scored his first goal in his first game, people were expecting big things from the young French international. He is now an established member of the Arsenal first team and support the midfield along with Fabregas and Song, etc. View all his goal of the 08-09 season right here on arsenalblogspot.blogspot.com,

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is the latest Barcelona target - report

Now personally I don't REALLY mind rumours. Sure they are annoying, but some of them are interesting to here. However something I really hate is rumours from Goal.com. Now I never really was a fan of Goal.com. Ever. But they seem to come up with more headlines to do with football around the world than I have ever seen from any of the other sporting sites. It is absolutely amazing. You go to other sites and they do not release any information till it is actually public. Nonetheless I have found an article on Goal.com regarding an Arsenal player linked to Barcelona. This time it is not the inevitable Cesc Fabregas being linked back to the Catalonia Giants. This story is really bizarre, but with millions of monthly readers on that site I could not help but post it. Besides I have not posted any Arsenal news in quite a while so this was just a covering up that little gap. Hopefully there will be better news as Arsenal take on Blackburn at Ewood Park. Be sure to stay on arsenalblogspot.blogspot.com for more information and highlights on that story. If you would like to view the Robin van Persie story then click on the following link,

Arshavin happy and grateful to be at Arsenal

Well looks like this should finally be the end of what was looking like a never ending and boring news. Andrey Arshavin caught the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week after he was quoted saying that playing for Barcelona would be 'the pinnacle of my career'. These words have been talked down by Wenger and now Arshavin himself has released an official statement regarding the issue. He has confirmed that such words and quotes get 'lost in translation' when he says them in Russia. He says that if he had said this in England in English none of this would have happened. However due to the change in language, media experts had taken his views and mistranslated and twisted in words in favour of the media to make a big hype about the issue. But thankfully for all you Arsenal fans it is all safe for now. For more information and the full article, click on the following link:

Wenger - If Gallas leaves we sign a defender

Wenger has now confirmed that if William Gallas, whos Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season, does not sign a new contract then Arsenal will buy a new defender. Good news for those who want new faces and hate Gallas. Not so good for those, like me, thought that Gallas was a great defender and should've continued at least one more year with Campbell and Vermaelen at the back. Nothing has been confirmed yet. But the way he has said it, and not to mention Gallas' ignorance in signing a new contract, means that he could well be on his way out of the Emirates. Read more on the story here:

Wenger wants to keep Eduardo on board

With Arsenal linked with different potential signings across Europe the places in the squad are likely to be limited. Many people will be pushed down the pecking order and others may struggle to find a consistent firs team start. Eduardo could be the victim of the situation to come. Arsenal will officially release the news about the signing of Chamakh as soon as the season ends. However with this addition to the squad Eduardo, 27, may be looking at himself falling back abit. Only 6 goals from 31 appearances tells its own story. He is not full in fitness and confidence, and with the lack of opportunity he gets, its no wonder he isn't improving. However Wenger has reiterated that he would love the Brazilian-born Croatian striker to stay with Arsenal. A loan spell would have been ideal for Eduardo to get some playing experience. But with Wenger keeping an eye out for backup, Eduardo could provide him with that option. Other story in he article includes the loss of three sentre backs at the end of this season. Gallas, Silvestre and Campbell all end their current contracts at Arsenal. The latter may choose to sign at the club for one more year. Brede Hangeland, Fulham centre-back, is also being linked with a potential move to Arsenal. For more on the story above click on the following link:

Denilson ruled out for the Season

Personally I hate it when the media says 'season' as if it's so long left in the season anyways. A few games and 'the season' is over. Nonetheless, the news from Wenger's press conference is that Denilson is injured for the last couple of games due to a groin injury. So the list of people out 'for the season' includes Vermaelen, Gallas, Fabregas and now Denilson. I was not including the long-term absentees.

Minor news coming from Wenger's press conference was that he is confident of signing a player before 11th June. Now for all of us thats a very good sign. And I am 99.99% sure it will be Chamakh who will be the first new face to arrive through the doors of the Emirates. Wenger believes that the prices become too 'artificial' after a player performs well after the World Cup.

And also Arsenal.com has posted the same story about Wenger's take on the Arshavin saga. More can be read about that on link 3:

Wenger let down by Arshavin comments

No its Wenger giving his views on the Arshavin-Barcelona controversy. When your facing the press you are bound to get questions that are on everyone's minds. Arshavin stated earlier this week that if he played for Barcelona it would 'be the peek of his career'. Wenger has his own approach to the situation. He believes words coming from abroad are translated and the translation can get mixed up and then twisted. There is a brief section on transfers in the following article too. Marouane Chamakh is almost perfectly poised to sign a deal with Arsenal. That will happen as soon as his deal ends in the summer with Bordeaux. For more on the story click on the following link:

Arshavin has 'a little chance' for Blackburn

Good news for all you Gunners out there. Arshavin could be back for the trip to Blackburn. Well it could be seen as not-so-good news because he was set to play against Man City which he didn't do so I guess if he still doesn't make it in the squad then Arsenal will miss him again up front with van Persie playing by himself again. Arshavin picked up a calf injury during the first leg of the Champions League quarter final with Barcelona. A few other players are still out and you can expect a very similar line up to be played against Blackburn as it was against Man City. For more information on this story visit the following link:

Arshavin set for Arsenal stay - Agent

Well there was an incident in recent weeks involving the Russian star. During in an interview he had stated that he would love to play for Barcelona one day. With the media getting hectic about such small details in words, they made this a big issue. Arshavin's agent has cleared any doubts about the Arsenal player's future. He has stated that unless something 'extraordinarily dramatic' happens, Arshavin 'will finish his career at Arsenal'. Good news for all he gunners out there hoping he gets back to action quick. Russia did not qualify to the World Cup. They were knocked out by Slovenia on the away goals rule. This means Arshavin will be staying in for the holidays and resting himself. Let's hope he's perfectly fit for next season to guide Arsenal to a trophy. We will see how fit he really is during the Emirates Cup. For more information on what his agent said, visit the following link:

Teams confirmed for Emirates Cup

I am sorry guys I did not post this earlier. The news was released yesterday and I did not get time to get onto arsenalblogspot so I did not add it. Anyways the news is that AC Milan, Olympique Lyonnais, Celtic and ofcourse Arsenal will be hoping to get their hands on pre-season glory. It is an annual event that gets four teams, including Arsenal, together and they play a short tournament to see who can land their hands on the Cup. For more information follow the link below:

Wenger talking to 'definite transfer targets'

Well looks like Wenger has kicked it up a gear and is really hurrying through this process. Well we shall see how it goes and who he brings in. I would rather have it done sooner rather than later. He does not want to buy players that perform well for their country in one tournament whereas they might struggle to adapt on a long term basis. If you would like to read for the story your self, here are two different links to it:

Arshavin eyes future Barca move

Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has admitted he would relish the opportunity to play for Barcelona at some point in the future.

The Russia international playmaker came close to joining the Catalan giants from Zenit St Petersburg in July 2008, before moving to the Emirates Stadium the following January.

Arshavin limped out of the first leg of Arsenal's 6-3 aggregate defeat by Barca in the Champions League quarter-finals at the end of March after suffering a calf injury from which he is still to recover.

He believes the opportunity to join Pep Guardiola's defending European champions would be too good to turn down, even though they wrecked the Gunners' dreams of continental glory.

"Even playing just one season for Barcelona would make a pinnacle of my whole career," Arshavin told Sport-Express newspaper.

"Barca are the best team in the world and I enjoy their style of play so much. But after watching them against Arsenal, the enjoyment has quickly turned into sorrow.

"They are so much better than anybody else at the moment."

Barca are facing a fight to defend their trophy, having suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Inter Milan in the first leg of their semi-final, a result which Arshavin believes was down to the Italian giants' manager.

He said: "It's all (Jose) Mourinho's magic. He is a genius.

"I think there are three coaches who are the best in the world - (England manager) Fabio Capello, Jose Mourinho and (former Russia manager) Guus Hiddink. If I would pick a coach for the Russian national team, I'd want one of them to be our boss.

"(Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger is also a good coach but not for Russia."

Arsenal 0 Manchester City 0

Probably THE most boring played in the Premier League for a very long time. It was even more boring than those Wolves vs Blackburn type games! (with all due respect to Blackburn and Wolves fans). But in all honesty I was not expecting a very attacking game from Manchester City. They sat back and defended well and threw Tevez up front. But the surprising fact was that Arsenal hardly did anything to test Given! Both sides would not mind the result as a draw. It was a very very cagey affair. Man City were aiming to take advantage on Spuds slip-up at Old Trafford but you must also keep in mind that City have lost at Arsenal for 5 years in a row. For them a draw is more than expected!

Wigan 3 Arsenal 2 - Video Highlights

An absolute disappointment for the gunners as they lost in absolutely astonishing fashion. The slim hopes for an end of season title push is now realistically out of their reach after a very under par performance in the last 10-15 minutes from the Gunners.

(Will be uploading highlights soon...in the mean time click here to view highlights)

New Blogspot Open

Hello everyone. I have opened up this new blogspot site for all those gunner fans out there that would like to read news about their favourite team or just view highlights of the latest matches to do with the gunners.
